Federal Policy Deadlines & Massachusetts: Dates and Decision Points to Watch

Over the last 20 months, MTF has documented the potential and actual effects of Trump administration and congressional action on Massachusetts as the state-federal partnership has changed dramatically. From federal actions on immigration, research and higher education, to the tax impacts of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OB3), federal policies have directly affected Massachusetts residents, employers, and the Commonwealth at large.

This brief focuses on four upcoming federal policy deadlines that will require state-level executive and legislative action as well as a coordinated strategy with the non-profit and philanthropic sectors:

1.    Medical work requirements,
2.    SNAP state cost share,
3.    Supportive housing restrictions, and
4.    Federal Scholarship Tax Credit.
